The request is being filed by Royal Oaks Development Corporation for approximately 19.23 acres of property, concurrent with rezoning. The resolution, maps, and other supporting documentation is enclosed. DISCUSSION The annexation territory is located at the intersection of Elmwood Drive and Silver Oaks Drive. The property consists of 12 platted lots with frontage along Silver Oaks Drive (private road) and two platted lots with frontage along Elmwood Drive (county right-of-way). Royal Oaks Development Corporation is in the process of applying to rezone the property to R-3 Moderate Density Multi-Family Residential. The 19.23-acre annexation territory includes an additional 0.99 acres of County right-of-way (Elmwood Drive), in accordance with lowa Code. By lowa Code, the annexation will be approved upon acknowledgement by the Secretary of State that the legal description, map and resolution have been received. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the City Council approve the resolution to set the public hearing on the voluntary annexation request for April 16, 2018. This date will provide adequate time to complete the notifications, certified mailings, and newspaper publication required by lowa Code i as well as the rezoning public hearing before the Zoning Advisory Commission.
