Narrative Description: This two story gable roof brick residence features a front gable entry with side hall plan. It measures 22' x 54' plus front porch. It rests on a stone foundation with rusticated stone watertable. The front entrance originally featured double doors with transom and cast hood above. Windows throughout are of double hung sash with cast sills and cast hoods with a simple incised pattern. The attic window in the front gable has a cast horse-shoe shaped hood. The porch with heavy brick piers is an early 20th century addition but it probably reflects the size and shape of the original. This house is a good example of the front gable brick house type found in this neighborhood, but the "new" porch impairs the integrity. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: The 1906 date of construction provided by the assessor's office appears to be approximately 15-20 years too late. The pitch of the roof and the cast hoods would be more in character with a date of 1885-90. This appears to be one of the many houses built in this area as the neighborhood was expanding to the east toward Eagle Point from the Couler corridor. 9.
