Minutes_Civil Service Commisson 10 14 09a CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MINUTES Date: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 Time: 1:00 p.m. Place of Meeting: City Hall -Conference Room A Present: Chairperson Dan White, Commissioners Jim Schilling and Betty Takes Also Present: Don Vogt, Paul Schultz, Dave Baker, Barry Lindahl, Chad Berendes, Randy Ludowitz, Ron Gulyash, Tony Severson Court Reporter: Nancy Pearson, Reporting Associates Chairperson White called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. and the Commission heard testimony regarding the appeals of Tony Severson and Mark Neyens: 1. Hearing on appeal of Tony Severson Attorney Barry Lindahl appeared for the City of Dubuque Teamsters Local 120 Eastern Iowa Director Dave Baker appeared for Tony Severson Upon concurrence, the witnesses were sworn in. Opening statements were given by Lindahl and Baker Witnesses for the City of Dubuque: Don Vogt Exhibits 1-11 entered into evidence Witnesses for Mr. Severson: Tony Severson Chad Berendes Exhibits 1-3 entered into evidence Summations were made by Lindahl and Baker Motion: Takes moved to uphold the one-day suspension without pay. Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried 2-1 with White voting nay. Break: 1:52 to 1:58 p.m. 2. Hearing on appeal of Mark Neyens Present: Chairperson Dan White, Commissioners Jim Schilling and Betty Takes Also Present: Don Vogt, Kevin Cornwell, Dave Baker, Barry Lindahl, Chad Berendes, Randy Ludowitz, Ron Gulyash, Mark Neyens Court Reporter: Nancy Pearson, Reporting Associates Attorney Barry Lindahl appeared for the City of Dubuque Teamsters Local 120 Eastern Iowa Director Dave Baker appeared for Mark Neyens.
