SUBJECT: Creek Wood Park Construction Project Award CIP #3602375
DATE: June 25, 2018
The Creek Wood Park Capital Improvement Project will involve the site grading and
base preparation for new park playground equipment, disconnection of an existing
water service connection, site grading and installation of sidewalk, installation of
electrical control box and park lighting, coordination with equipment supplier associated
with installation of playground equipment and rubberized safety surFacing, final site
grading, planting of trees, perennial plugs, native grasses and turf grass.
Fehr-Graham Engineering and Environmental was selected for design and construction
management services for the park development. Fehr-Graham worked from the
concept design developed in 2012 by CDA. Concept A was the concept design chosen
by those attending several meetings that were held on site with neighbors and citizens
at that time. Neighbors liked the concept and asked about benches, a picnic table and
wished for rubberized surfacing under the playground to be a part of the project. They
also requested parking on the south side so parking is located on the park side of the
road. Each of these comments/suggestions were considered and incorporated into the
Creek Wood Park Master Plan by Fehr Graham. The concept design was used to drive
and develop the master plan.
A mailing was done to the entire neighborhood plus press releases and social media
was used to gather input prior to a public engagement meeting. For those unable to
attend the meeting, a webpage (http://www.cityofdubuque.orq/2660/Creek-Wood-Park)
containing all information and facts was available with an input form and a voting
opportunity for choice of the playground. The public was given an opportunity to
provide input on the Master Plan, ask questions and vote on playground choices at the
public meeting. The playground was chosen by the public with top voted playground
being the one ordered.
