The Dubuque Community School District has provided AmeriCorps Partners in Learning with the data on students served by AmeriCorps members during the 2017-2018 school year. AmeriCorps members tutored over 1048 students during the school year. Of those students, 476 students met the required dosage of services of at least 30 sessions of 15-minute interventions and completed the tutoring program. This is the performance measure within the grant. Of the 476 students, 97% or 462 students, improved in their reading assessment by 10 points or more from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018 FAST Assessments. AmeriCorps Partners in Learning has seen a steady increase in supporting data that shows that the interventions are making a difference. In the 2014-2015 school year, 67% or 362 of 544 students improved. In 2015-2016, 89% or 416 of 468 students improved. In 2016-2017, 89% or 508 of 571 students improved. Additionally, it is important to note that in the past, any point increase was considered improvement. With this most recent 2017-2018 school year, staff only measured 10 or more points of improvement. During the school year, Dubuque Community School District staff trained thirty-eight AmeriCorps members in effective reading interventions and strategies. Using these interventions, these members collaborated closely with elementary school classroom teachers and instructional coaches to provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions to struggling readers. In addition to tutoring students, AmeriCorps members also play a significant mentoring role in each child's life. AmeriCorps members are another caring, safe adult who gives students individual attention and notices students' successes. These positive, encouraging relationships are fundamental for students. 1I.1fL'G*'1 Y t+lrt , Mic ael C.
