LibraryBoard ofTrustees Update
From the Meering ofAugust 23, 2018
Present: Patty Poggemiller, President; Christy Monk, Vice-President and Trustees,
Robert Armstrong, Rosemary Kramer, and Pam Mullin
Excused: Greg Gorton and Pat Maddux
• The Library Board of Trustees approved expenditures.
• Election of Officers for the Library Board of Trustees was held. Officers are Patty
Poggemiller, President; Christy Monk, Vice President, and Pat Maddux,
Secretary.
• The Board will review the Library Board of Trustees By-Laws and Policy at their
September meeting.
. July is the first month of FY 2019 representing 8°k of the fiscal year
lapsing. Budget expenditures were at 7°k and revenue income was at 5°k
of projections. In the past month since the Board's last meeting, $4,714.72
in fines have been waived and $414.16 has been received as donations in
support of the fine-free program. This represents an 8.8°k recovery in
fines that have been waived. The total recovery for June and July is 8.4°k.
• A snapshot of past due items was reviewed on August 14 and compared to a day
in July and also one in January prior to the fine-free trial. By comparison to the
previous month, more items are past due. In July 83°k of items were within
the check-out period, and in August 81 .5°k were within the check-out
period. The greatest increase in past dues was in overdue items up to
seven days with 1 .3°k more items late than in July. Also the timeframe of
seven to 14 days past due increased 1 °k. This is expected. (Accounts are
blocked when any item becomes 14 days overdue). Over 60 days
increased 1 °k compared to July, but remains 4°k lower when compared to
a snapshot of the collection pre fine-free. Total past dues are about 2°k
less than in January.
• September is National Library Card Signup Month and in recognition of this the
library will launch the Carnegie Club, a special membership for active library
users. One can join the Carnegie Club by meeting any one of the following during
the next 12 months:
o Your child has completed the 1 ,000 Books Before Kindergarten
program

o A donation of$25 to the Library Foundation
o A donation of 90 volunteer hours
o Attendance to 12 programs for Adults
o You are a certified maker and have visited the Maker Space five
times
o Random choices: each week in September the 500h person to
check out something at the Circulation Desk will get membership
into the Carnegie Club. The person who checks out the 5000h item
in September will get membership in the Carnegie Club.
o Random drawings from Facebook followers will take place for
immediate membership in the Carnegie Club.
• Benefits to the Carnegie Club include a customized "Carnegie Club" library card
and coffee or tea mug as well as incentives in the library and discounts from ten
business partners in the downtown area.
