ROLL CALL: Present: Directors Steven Drahozal, Dave Ruden, Rachel Boeke, Curt
Kiessling, Mike Freiburger, Willie O'Brien CCWMA Administrators: Eric Schmechel
Absent Gerry Hess, Neal Patten, Ryan Peterson
CALL TO ORDER: Kiessling called the meeting to order at 5:12pm
August lsr Meeting Minutes were approved. Motion made by Drahozal, seconded by
Ruden.
ACTION ITEMS:
Dubuque County Conservarion Board sediment structure (638)has been surveyed and designed.
Schmechel is waiting for final cost estimate. This has been tabled until October meeting.
Schmechel updated the board on some of the streambank failure occurring on the South Fork
project. AES brought attenrion to a few slopes that have failed on the project. The Board would
like Schxnechel to ask MSA their input on why these failures have occurred and to setup a time to
walk the site.
Creek Wood park would like to do SQR on a new park in TimberHyst Subdivision. The cost
estimate for it appears to be $13,500. This project was tabled until a full application is received
and Mattoon is able to speak on behalf of the City.

ITEMS FROM STAFF:
Schmechel updated the Board on the RFP that has been completed and posted on several
sites for the watershed coordinator position. The RFP was posted on CaYfish Creek
Facebook site, City of Dubuque, Wisconsin land and water, and conservation districts of
Iowa
Schmechel updated board on the latest Nutrient Reduction Exchange (NRE). The City of
Dubuque has been working with Jamie Konopacky, an attorney with the Sand County
Foundation. Willie O'Brien, Teri Goodman, and Dean Mattoon have all been working
with Jamie and Dustin as the city moves forward with this exciting project. Dubuque
could be the first city in Iowa to see how NRE could/would look like for the state of Iowa.
Jeff Arensdorf is submitting an application to the NRCS for streambank stabilization work.
Schmechel will keep the board updated on progress.
Jon Perry streambank site has been surveyed. Cost estimates have not been determined
yet. Schmechel will keep Board updated.
Dubuque County Conservation Board streambank site has not yet been surveyed but is on
the list.
CCWMA Board Meeting
May 3 2017
Schmechel and Mattoon met with Sam Mulgrew, manager of Voices in Dubuque in
regards to the idea of a`Blue Mind"mural. The meeting went great. Schmechel and
Mattoon are looking for partners on this project and will keep the board in the loop.
