Proclamation_Scouting Day PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America has impacted over 100 million youth and honored two million Eagle Scouts since its inception in 1910; and WHEREAS, for 100 years, Scouting’s unaltered mission has been to develop the character, leadership, and family values of our youth and assist parents in training each successive generation of leaders; and WHEREAS, some of America’s top leaders were scouts including President Gerald Ford, Steven Spielberg, Sam Walton, Neil Armstrong and Henry Aaron. Their leadership, character, and teamwork continues to inspire the youth America; and WHEREAS, on Sunday, February 7, 2010, the Boys Scouts of America will th celebrate its 100 anniversary. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2010, AS “SCOUTING DAY” IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO ATTEND A SPECIAL EVENT SPONSORED BY THE NORTHEAST IOWA COUNCIL OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, FROM 1:00 TO 3:00 P.M. IN THE LORAS COLLEGE FIELD HOUSE.
