City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is recommending acceptance of the construction contract
for the Clarke Drive Sanitary Sewer Repair Project, as completed by Drew Cook & Sons
Excavating Co, Inc., in the final contract amount of $22,431.68, which is a 21.8%
decrease from the original contract amount of $27,316.62.

The enclosed resolution provides for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
Clarke Drive Sanitary Sewer Repair Project.
The Clarke Drive Sanitary Sewer Repair Project involved the replacement of
approximately 222 feet of 8 -inch PVC sanitary sewer pipe from the sewer main between
2071 and 2033 Clarke Drive. Six properties are served by this sewer line.
The project was awarded based on a competitive quotation process for public
improvements in accordance with Iowa Code, Section 26.14.
The was completed by Drew Cook & Sons Excavating Co., Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa, in
the final contract amount of $22,431.68, which is a 21.8% decrease from the original
contract amount of $27,316.62.
I recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize the payment
of the contract amount of $22,431.68 to Drew Cook & Sons Excavating Co., Inc. for the
Clarke Drive Sanitary Sewer Repair Project.

RESOLUTION NO. 20-10
ACCEPTING THE CLARKE DRIVE SANITARY SEWER REPAIR PROJECT AND
AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE
CONTRACTOR
Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the Clarke Drive Sanitary Sewer
Repair Project (the Project) has been completed and the City Engineer has examined
the work and filed a certificate stating that the Project has been completed according to
the terms of the Public Improvement Contract and that the City Engineer recommends
that the Project be accepted; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Engineer is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay to the Contractor from
the General Sanitary Sewer Repairs appropriation for the contract amount of
$22,431.68 less any retained percentage provided for therein as provided in Iowa Code
chapter 573, and to pay such retainage only in accordance with the provisions of Iowa
Code chapter 573.
