INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information regarding the snow
route petition (attached) from residents in the East 24 Street area.
BACKGROUND
At the City Council's January 4 meeting, it received a petition from East 24
Street residents. The petition requested that East 24 Street be added to
Dubuque's odd /even snow route system.
DISCUSSION
Earlier this winter, after the first major storm, I was contacted by Ms. Dawn
Schaal (517 East 24 Street). She inquired regarding the process for adding
East 24 to Dubuque's odd /even snow route system. I informed her that a
petition signed by as many of her neighbors as possible would be an excellent
first step. I did agree with her that East 24 narrow due to parked cars even
during the summer months, would be an excellent addition to the system and that
would support it.
Such an addition would require amending 9 -14- 321.682 and the installation of
approximately sixteen (16) snow route signs and posts. It is viable to install said
signs /posts immediately after Council approval.
