MINUTES OF CABLE TV COMMISSION MEETING
January 9, 2019

MEMBERS PRESENT: Jennifer Tigges (Chair), Ron Tigges (Vice-Chair), Pauline Maloney, Alan
Vincent, Kathy McMullen
MEMBERS ABSENT: Sr. Carol Hoverman. One seat is vacant.
OTHERS PRESENT: Craig Nowack, City of Dubuque
Darin Dean, Mediacom
JTigges called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m.
Acceptance of the Agenda
Upon a motion by Vincent, seconded by McMullen, the agenda was accepted by a motion of 5-0.
Approval of the Minutes of December 5, 2018
Upon a motion by Vincent, seconded by McMullen, minutes of the December 5, 2018, meeting were
approved 5 —0.
Oaths of Office
There were no oaths to be administered.
Public Input
There was no public input.
Mediacom Cable Report
Dean described Mediacom's Xtream Wi-Fi overhaul of the original public Wi-Fi equipment they had
installed a number of years ago. This service will be free to their subscribers who have a user
account with Mediacom. Non-Mediacom customers will get 30 free minutes per month. He said the
"Wi-Fi Area" signs that were installed back when the original Wi-Fi went in should remain in place.
McMullen wondered if some additional signs should be erected to inform the public if additional areas
are covered. Dean noted that they'll be able to tell how much areas are being utilized and will have
the ability to move equipment if one particular area is not being used.
Cable TV Report
Nowack provided an overview of recently completed programs and upcoming productions. He noted
that he had been involved in a multi-department project to get a set of small cell design guidelines
enacted prior to an FCC-mandated deadline of January 14, 2019, to have such guidelines in writing.
Dubuque's guidelines were approved by the City Council at the January 7, 2019, meeting.
He said that he and Video Producer Erich Moeller are now turning their attention to their budget
presentation scheduled for February 7. He also said they are still waiting for the new 32x32 routing
switcher to finish the digital routing upgrade in the TV Control Room here at the Annex.
