Proclamation_League of Women Voters Anniversary
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters is celebrating ninety years of service to
our nation through its hands-on work to safeguard democratic
institutions; and
WHEREAS, the League is a bipartisan political organization which impacts public
policy through citizen education and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque League collaborates with other organizations to
achieve mutual goals, increase civic participation, and create lasting
change in the community, in order to make democracy work; and
WHEREAS, through voter education, election forums, co-sponsorship of the
legislative Cracker Barrels, sponsorship of the Annual State of the
city Address, and annual publication of the Voter Directory, the
citizens of Dubuque have benefited tremendously from the countless
volunteer hours donated by the local League.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 15 THROUGH FEBRUARY 20,
