Van Milligen City Manager FROM: Mark Dalsing Chief of Police /V RE: INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend the annual renewal of the above liquor license establishments and to highlight the calls for service related to incidences of disturbances, crimes against persons, crimes against property, and public morals occurring at the business since the last liquor license renewal. BACKGROUND Regarding the listed establishments, the following is a summary of activity since their last renewal. The following key provides a brief description of those calls for service displaying four areas of concern. Additionally, there were no individual violations and no violations against the business. EAGLES CLUB #568 (1175 CENTURY DRIVE) Since the last renewal date there were nine calls for service to the establishment. Of those nine calls there were no disturbances, no crimes against persons, one crime against property, and no public morals calls. Additionally, there were no individual violations and no violations against the business. GIN RICKEY'S (1447 CENTRAL AVENUE) Since the last renewal date there have been 137 calls for service to the establishment. Of those 137 calls there were 13 disturbances, eight crimes against persons, two crimes against property, and five public morals calls. Additionally, there were 21 individual violations and no violations against the business. The 137 calls for service is an overall increase over last year's 81 calls. When examined closer though, we see there was one more disturbance than last year's total, four more crimes against persons, and actually one less individual violation. However, with the increase in overall calls for service, we will be taking additional steps to reduce these numbers. Arrangements have been made to meet with the owners and regularly scheduled meetings will be held in order to review the calls for service and the establishment's reduction efforts. Increased calls for service or a lack of reduction in calls for service could potentially affect subsequent liquor license issuances. 09 -22566 Disturbance- verbal Public Intoxication 09 -35611 Harassment- in person Handled By Officer 09 -35617 Disturbance- music /noise Handled By Officer 09 -38920 Robbery Offense Report Filed 09 -40458 Disturbance- verbal Handled By Officer 09 -46000 Disturbance- verbal Handled By Officer 09 -47293 Criminal Mischief- broken window Offense Report Filed 09 -51309 Disturbance- music /noise Handled By Officer 09 -53477 Public morals- public intoxication Public Intoxication (2), In Bar After 9pm Under 21 09 -55261 Disturbance- verbal Report Filed 09 -56694 Disturbance- verbal Public Intoxication 09 -58010 Assault Handled By Officer 09 -58528 Disturbance- verbal Handled By Officer 09 -58798 No contact order violation Offense Report Filed 09 -58802 Public morals- public intoxication Public Intoxication, Public Urination DPD Case # Type of Call /Circumstances Disposition 09 -2124 Public morals- prohibited smoking Prohibited Smoking (3 Patrons + 1 Employee) 09 -20297 Public morals- music /noise Handled By Officer 09 -20857 Robbery Robbery-1 Degree 09 -21632 Disturbance- verbal Handled By Officer 09 -29103 Robbery Offense Report Filed 09 -30877 Disturbance- music /noise Handled By Officer 09 -48809 Disturbance- music /noise Handled By Officer 09 -48904 Disturbance- verbal Handled By Officer 09 -52481 Disturbance- verbal Handled By Officer DPD Case # Type of Call /Circumstances Disposition 09 -2416 Theft- of cell phone Mail Out Sent 09 -9168 Assault- subject assaulted by another Interference With Official Acts, Public Intoxication 09 -45796 Public morals- underage consumption of alcohol Possession Of Alcohol Under The Legal Age Handled By Officer 09 -53648 Assault- subject assaulted by another HAMMERHEADS BAR & BILLIARDS (2095 KERPER BOULEVARD) Since the last renewal date there have been 14 calls for service to the establishment.
