Message: I am all in favor of banning texting while driving... and maybe even talking... But banning hands free devices
would be stepping over the line. What about the cars with handsfree built in... Are they all going to be banned from the city?
What about the people putting on makeup, eating, reading, talking to the person next to them, and all the other distractions
while driving are they going to be banned too?

Message: I very much appreciate your positive vote on restricing cell phones while driving. Just going around the city one
notices the lack of attention by drivers while being on the phone. While I have not read the proposal. I hope it contains stiff
fines for first time offenders and much stiffer fines for second and third offenders. I also hope that police take an active role
in enforcement. I believe the police do a good job for the city, and don't believe they are appreciated for the decisions they
HAVE to make. Thank you also for the work that you do. It takes courage to make decisions, it's just so much easier sit back

Message: A few years ago I was rear ended in a new car by a woman on a cell phone...Just the othe day as I was driving up
Hill Street a man crossed over the line and nearly hit me as I pulled away from him. He was on his cell phone. I count the
number of drivers on cell phones everyday as I go and return from work. It is unbelievable. So what did we do before cell
phones ? ?? I could give many examples and I just urge you to please pass an ordinance against cell phones as well as
texting...Thank you.
