Van Milligen, City Manager , , FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer � > SUBJECT: Acceptance of Grant of Easement for Hike/Bike Trail and Public Utilities from 7G Properties, LLC, across Part of Lot 2 of 2 of Dubuque Industrial Center 7t" Addition, in the City of Dubuque, lowa (Chavenelle Road Hike/Bike Trail Project) DATE: April 11, 2019 INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to seek acceptance of a Grant of Easement for Hike/Bike Trail and Public Utilities across Part of Lot 2 of 2 of Dubuque Industrial Center 7t"Addition, in the City of Dubuque as part of the Chavenelle Road Hike/Bike Trail Project. DISCUSSION This project includes construction of a new hike/bike trail along Chavenelle Rd. from Radford Rd. to Seippel Road. The trail will be located on the north side of Chavenelle Rd. in the Dubuque Industrial Center West business park. The trail will be ten feet in width and will have a concrete surface. Chavenelle Rd. currently has limited sidewalks and therefore pedestrians have to walk in the stre�t in m�ny places. The proposed project will eventually connect with the hike/bike trail along the NW Arterial which extends from Holliday Dr. to Chavenelle Rd. This trail will ultimately connect future bike trails on the Southwest Arterial and to the Mississippi River Trail. The proposed trail alignment sits on portions of private property owned by 7G Distributing Dubuque (7G Properties, LLC) at 5035 Chavenelle Road. We propose to acquire a temporary and permanent hike/bike trail and public utilities easement created for the purpose of constructing, operating and maintaining the proposed trail improvements across the property. The grant of easement and plat are shown in the attached Exhibit A. RECOMMENDATION I recommend accepting the Grant of Easement for Hike/Bike Trail and Public Utilities from 7G Properties, LLC, across Part of Lot 2 of 2 of Dubuque Industrial Center 7th Addition, in the City of Dubuque, lowa, as shown on the exhibit attached to the Grant of Easement.
