SUBJECT: Orchard Drive Water Main Extension Project
DATE: June 24, 2019
Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, the Orchard Drive
Water Main Extension Project was awarded on June 13, 2019, to Drew Cook & Sons
Excavating Co., Inc., in the contract amount of$32,770.90, which is 34.35°k under the
estimate of probable cost.
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends that the award for the Orchard Drive Water
Main Extension Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

RE: Orchard Drive Water Main Extension Project
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is ta award tf�e constructiori coritract for the Orchard
Drive Water Main Extension Project.
DISCUSSION
The Orchard Drive Water Main Extension Project will extend the water main between
2105 and 2111 Orchard Drive to provide additional fire protection. The project consists of
approximately 275' of 6" ductile iron pipe with a hydrant at the end.
BID RESULTS
Sealed informal bids were received on June 13, 2019, for the Orchard Drive Water Main
Extension Project. Drew Cook & Sons Excavating, Co. Inc. of Dubuque, lowa submitt�d
the low bid in the amount of $32,770.90, which is 34.35% under the estimate of probable
cost. A summary of the bid proposals received is as follows:

In accordance with the competitive quotation requirements of lowa Code, Section 26.14, it
is necessary that the award for the Orchard Drive Water Main Extension Project be
officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
