DATE: July 8, 2019
The Fire Department will be displaying the newest fire engine before the July 15 City
Council meeting. Since there is a 5:30 City Council Work Session, the fire engine will
be outside the Historic Federal Building from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

RE: New Fire Engine viewing before July 15 Council Meeting
INTRODUCTION
The fire department will be displaying the newest fire engine delivery before the
July 15 City Council meeting.
BACKGROUND
This fire engine was completed in the FY2019 CIP and built by Simon Fire
Equipment (Farley, IA). The chassis was purchased locally from Thompson Truck and
Trailer Inc.
DISCUSSION
The new engine just went in service and will be assigned as Engine 501 at Fire
Headquarters. This engine serves the immediate downtown area and also responds to
virtually all structure fires throughout the city. Engine 501 will be on display in front of
the Historic Federal Building before the City Council meeting on July 15�n
ACTION REQUESTED

of the Dubuque City Council.
