Proclam Compassionate Friends
WHEREAS, the people of the City of Dubuque are pleased to recognize “The
Compassionate Friends,” a self-help organization offering friendship
and understanding to bereaved parents; and
WHEREAS, “The Compassionate Friends” understands the grief experienced
upon the death of a child and promotes the positive resolution of
that grief; and
WHEREAS, “’The Compassionate Friends” fosters the physical and emotional
health of bereaved parents and siblings; and
WHEREAS, we are pleased to salute the Dubuque Area Chapter of “The

Compassionate Friends” which is now celebrating its 20
th
anniversary with a program and potluck on May 18 at Eagle Point
Park.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF MAY 20-26, 2003 AS:
“COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS AWARENESS WEEK”
AND CONGRATULATION THE GOOD PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS WORTHWHILE
ORGANIZATION AND URGE THE CITIZENS OF OUR COMMUNITY TO
RECOGNIZE, UTILITZE AND APPRECIATE THE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL
SUPPORT.
