Whereas, in January 2008, Founder and Chairman, Michael Duehr, sat down with Loras Student
Matt Maloney (then President of the Loras Student Body) to lay out a vision for college
and high school students who have a passion for service; and
Whereas, Daniel and Andrew Timmerman from Wahlert Catholic High School have been very
valuable members of the Eagles "Eyes on the Future" Committee for four years, joining
this Committee in their freshman year. Daniel and Andrew's sister, Angel Sara
Timmerman, was a very valuable member of the "Eyes on the Future" for three years
before leaving for college. Tim and Christie Timmerman have raised three very wonderful
and caring children. Daniel and Andrew Timmerman have always been very dedicated,
committed, and very reliable volunteers for the Committee. Daniel and Andrew are the
foundation of the "Eyes on the Future" Committee. Time after time during the last four
years, Daniel and Andrew regularly volunteered at the Food Pantry, the "Open CloseY'
free clothing giveaway for the needy, serving meals at the City Rescue Mission, and
helping serve meals to the Vets at the Veterans Freedom Center. For all four years Daniel
and Andrew have been involved in the "Passion for Service" Day and "Christmas Service"
Day and "Make a Difference" Day. They have helped wrap Christmas presents for needy
children and helped ring bells for the Salvation Army. Their family made cookies for the
Boys Club Christmas Party. Daniel and Andrew have helped with many fundraisers at
Pizza Ranch. Daniel and Andrew have been honored and recognized by the Governor of
the State of lowa and the Dubuque City Council for helping and assisting people and
families less fortunate. Andrew Timmerman was the High School Student of the Year this
year from Wahlert Catholic High School; and
Whereas, Daniel and Andrew Timmerman have been very valuable members and volunteers to
the "Eyes on the Future" Committee for the last four years. The "Eyes on the Future"
Committee can't thank the two boys enough for their committed sacrifice and service. Both
Daniel and Andrew represent what is good about our great country and our great city of
Dubuque. They always support and are kind to others in our community, especially the
most vulnerable. Thank you so much, Daniel and Andrew, for your citizen involvement and
civic engagement. You both make a difference in the lives of others. We wish you both,
Daniel and Andrew, great success as you start your college careers. When you lead a life
of conviction and passion, it gives your life purpose and gives your life meaning! Go find
your passion, Daniel and Andrew!
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Roy D. Buol, Mayor of the City of Dubuque, lowa, on behalf of the City
Council, staff, and citizens of Dubuque, do hereby officially recognize that this world is a better
place with young, spirited, and committed people like Daniel and Andrew Timmerman in it. Thank
you, Daniel and Andrew.
