SUBJECT: Dubuque Montessori Parking Lot Asphalt Paving Project
DATE: July 29, 2019
Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, the Dubuque
Montessori Parking Lot Asphalt Paving Project was awarded on July 23, 2019, to River
City Paving, in the base bid contract amount of $33,192.86, which is 40% under the
estimate of probable cost.
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends that the award for the Dubuque Montessori
Parking Lot Asphalt Paving Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City
Council.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to award the construction contract for the Dubuque
Montessori Parking Lot Asphalt Paving Project.
DISCUSSION
The Dubuque Montessori Parking Lot Asphalt Paving Project involves milling and hot mix
asphalt pavement resurfacing and pavement markings of the parking lot at the Richard J.
Slattery Art & Recreation Center which is home of the Dubuque Montessori School.
BID RESULTS
Sealed informal bids were received on July 23, 2019, for the Dubuque Montessori Parking
Lot Asphalt Paving Project. River City Paving of Kieler, WI submitted the low base bid in
the amount of $33,192.86, which is 40% under the estimate of probable cost. A summary
of the bid proposals received is as follows:

The City Council is requested to concur in the award the construction contract for

In accordance with the competitive quotation requirements of lowa Code, Section 26.14, it
is necessary that the award for the Dubuque Montessori Parking Lot Asphalt Paving
Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
