1. Approve Minutes of December 11, 2009
Motion by Takes to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2009 meeting with
the change that Commissioner Takes proctored the January 27 and February 3,
Fire Promotional examinations and Commissioner White proctored the February
10 Fire Promotional examination. Seconded by White. Motion carried 3 -0.
2. Request to Schedule entrance Examination and Approve Recruitment
Process for the Position of Police Officer
Personnel Manager Randy Peck recommended the following:
• Examination date of Saturday, April 24, 2010 — written test and agility test
• Application deadline of 5:00 p.m. on March 19
• Process remain the same as in past years
• Police Officer Selection Test (POST) for the written examination
• Remote site testing if necessary
• Transfer scores allowed with option of taking highest score achieved
• Certified list be good for one year
• Oral interview score to be combined with written / agility test scores
Takes moved to approve the recommendations. Seconded by White. Motion
carried 2 -0. Commissioner Takes questioned one suggestion from the Police
Officer Recruitment Committee obtaining a list of names of potential applications
from the Chair of the Criminal Justice Program at the University of Wisconsin —
Platteville. She felt this could be in violation of the Family Education Rights and
Privacy Act of 1974.
In response to a question from the Commission, Personnel Manager Peck stated
that the City's wage and benefit package for Police Officer was competitive with
cities in the area.
3. Old Business
Commissioner Takes questioned whether part-time employees were being
informed that they were not covered by Civil Service. Peck stated that they are.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:22 a.m.
