SUBJECT: Amy Court Drainage Improvements Project
DATE: September 9, 2019
Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, the Amy Court
Drainage Improvements Project was awarded on August 29, 2019, to Drew Cook &
Sons Excavating Co., Inc., in the contract amount of $85,749.50, which was 14.43%
over the estimate of probable cost.
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends that the award for the Amy Court Drainage
Improvements Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

RE: Amy Court Drainage Improvements Project
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to award the construction contract for the Amy Court
Drainage Improvements Project.
DISCUSSION
The Amy Court Drainage Improvements will involve the extension of approximately 90
feet of storm sewer, construction of two intakes, reconstructing the curb & gutter section
and impacted driveway approaches, and installation of drain tile in the cul-de-sac. Work
also includes some minor re-grading and the first lift of asphalt paving of the cul-de-sac.
BID RESULTS
Sealed informal bids were received on August 29, 2019, for the Amy Court Drainage
Improvements Project. Drew Cook & Sons Excavating Company, Inc. of Dubuque, IA
submitted the low bid in the amount of $85,749.50, which is 14.43% over the estimate of
probable cost. A summary of the bid proposals received are as follows:
