The Capital Grant for Access Equipment and Facilities currently has a balance to be awarded of $781,029. RECOMMENDED ACTION I respectfully request that the Commission's recommendation be forwarded to the City Council to receive, file, and approve. cc: Randy Gehl, Public Information Officer Craig Nowack From: noreply@civicplus.com Sent: Sunday, September 1, 2019 10:16 PM To: Craig Nowack Subject: Online Form Submittal: PEG Fund Grant Application The following form was submitted via your website: PEG Fund Grant Application Organization Name:: Loras College Address:: 1450 Alta Vista St. City:: Dubuque State:: IA Zip Code:: 52001 Organization Contact::Jill Specht Email Address::jill.specht@loras.edu Telephone Number:: 563-588-7032 Fax Number:: Total Amount Requested:: $27,500 Provide a general description of what you are requesting and why:: We are requesting the funds to purchase a new production switcher for our TV Studio, to replace our previous FOR-A switcher, which no longer works and is unrepairable. Specifically, the switcher that we would like to purchase is the Ross Carbonite Ultra Production Switcher. All functioning switcher is essential for all of our in-studio productions. This switcher specifically, will allow us to continue to produce the same high level of studio productions we currently produce, as well as being a switcher that has the "room" to grow with us as we look to produce new content in the coming years. Describe how the community will benefit from your request:: Within the last year alone, Loras students have produced more than 30 in-studio programs (which have utilized our previous production switcher) that have aired on The Source/CH. 117-5. Having a robust production switcher is essential for our students to continue to produce high-quality newscasts, sportscast, entertainment talk shows, and multi-cam interviews for PEG programming. Our studio productions are the probably the most impactful programs that we produce specifically for the Dubuque Community as they provide coverage of area news and sports, as well as features of people and places in the tri-states.
