We are interested in voicing our support for the Carnegie Stout Public Library and the need for increased library
staffing. We think that the additional property tax fee of $4 per year to the average homeowner is a small price
to pay for excellent library service for the entire Dubuque community regardless of economic background. New
facilities certainly should be supported by vibrant programming and individualized assistance. We urge you to
support the library's request for an increased staff budget.

Message: My attempt is to send an e-mail requesting a positive showing from City Council/City Manager toward funding our
Carnegie -Stout Public Library. I was in attendance when Library Leaders reluctantly parted with the Curtis Collection with
the indication made that our Library would be well taken care of. We need to keep our values, virtues, priorities, and goals
focused on this golden treasure. Without well- educated and motivated tax - paying citizens, Dubuque's dream falls short. We
will enter through those majestic columns ready for our new chapter in life. We take it for granted that the Library will be
ready for us! It's time we "open the books" and budget for the staffing needed to make this golden treasure and ultimately all
