Sections 13- 2C -3(B) and 13- 2CO3(C)(7). Establishing Sewer Rates

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this memorandum is to submit to you a copy of the
proposed ordinance changes and a recommendation that ordinance changes
anticipated for FY2011 take effect on July 1, 2010.
DISCUSSION: In our budget request for FY2011 we are requesting a 9% sewer rate
increase. The effect of the amendment changes, based upon the 9% increase, is on
the attached page. The ordinance changes would revise Section 13- 2C -3(B) and
Section 13- 2C- 3(C)(7) of the Code of Ordinances increasing basic wastewater charges
for residential, commercial and minor industrial users from $2.37 to $2.58 per ccf, rate
per each gallon from $ .00317 to $. 00345.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that you approve the proposed ordinance changes
and submit them to the City Council for approval at their March 9, 2010 budget hearing.

AMENDING THE CITY OF DUBUQUE CODE OF ORDINANCES SECTIONS 13 -2C-
3(B) AND 13- 2C- 3(C)(7) ESTABLISHING BASIC SEWER RATES FOR
RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL USERS BY INCREASING THE RATES
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY ATHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. Section 13- 2C -3(B) of the City of Dubuque Code of Ordinances is
amended to read as follows:
Section 13- 2C -3(B) Schedule of Rates:
Rates per each one hundred (100) cubic feet $2.58
Rate per each gallon $ .00345
Section 2. Section 13- 2C- 3(C)(7) of the City of Dubuque Code of Ordinances is
amended to read as follows:
Where the quantity of water consumed is such that the minimum of service is
charged, the minimum sewer service charge, according to the size of the meter,
shall be as follows:
