RE: Tobacco Use Prevention & Control Community Partnership Grant
To Whom It May Concern:
The City of Dubuque Health Services Department supports the Hillcrest Family
Services /Dubuque County application for funds through the Tobacco Use Prevention &
Control Community Partnership Grant. Through Hillcrest Family Services, the Dubuque
community has established a community tobacco -free coalition which has enabled us to
work with many community -based organizations and agencies on tobacco prevention
and cessation initiatives. The City also works with the anti - tobacco coordinator on
Iowa's Smoke Free Air Act.
Tobacco prevention on a community level is a long -term project. Therefore, continued
funding for our efforts is vital if we are to curtail the onset of tobacco use in teenagers
and others in the community. Without these funds, our tobacco prevention and
cessation efforts would be very minimal. Therefore, I hope that you will continue your
support of Dubuque's efforts and fund our Tobacco Use Prevention and Control
Community Partnership Grant application.
