WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #6 of Dubuque has been a
staunch advocate for patriotism and veterans since 1920; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary held its first convention in 1919, and
have been servi ng, ed ucation, and g ivi ng to America's fi nest — ou r
servicemen and women through the call of Service Not Self; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #6 has played a leading role in
initiatives and advancement of legislation that improves the quality
of I ife for ou r nation's veterans; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #6 has contributed to programs
benefitting children and youth of our city and county; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #6 of Dubuque is celebrating its
100t" year as the oldest charted American Leg ion Auxi I iary U n it i n the
State of I owa.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 9th DAY OF NOVEMBER 2019 AS THE KICKOFF OF
"AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT #6 OF
DUBUQUE'S CENTENNIAL YEAR"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON OUR CITIZENS TO
RECOGNIZE THE EFFORTS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT #6 OF
DUBUQUE.
