Dubuque Mayor Announces Eradication of Poverty Day 11/7/17 Still Eminent
Community Members Gather for Generational Poverty Eradication Day
Dubuque, IA: Today, Fountain of Youth, a non-profit changing the mindsets of youth and
eliminating generational poverty, announces their continued mission in the Eradication of
Poverty Day, announced officially by Dubuque, IA Mayor Roy Buol (2017). FOY is celebrating
Eradication of Poverty Day with a meal and Key Note speakers on December 7, 2019.
Fountain of Youth supports members who are participating in Partners in Change (PIC) a 2-6
month program including 3 phases, Real Talk 14-week Sessions, and Inside Out, a bi-weekly
program building relationships between State Representatives, City Officials, and local business
leaders. Community members, volunteers, and FOY participants gain life-long learning skills,
employment opportunities, and tools to achieve their GED or pursue higher education or
vocational opportunities. Getting in Tune program for young adults includes a holistic approach
to financial literacy, interpersonal skills, building resources, and promoting stability.
To scale community impact, participants have participated in, and graduated from the
program(s), changing the way poverty affects their lives and the lives of others:
• Over 150 graduates and 97% employment rate
• Sessions topping 15-30 Local business leaders and participants
• 163 business community referrals, 36 PIC Program participants, 101 individuals
graduating from transitional living
About the Fountain of Youth: Seeks to change mindsets that contribute to generational

community to help them achieve their goals and grow personally and spiritually. The Fountain
of Youth serves individuals impacted by generational poverty aged 16-40+. All participants are
