SUBJECT:Ice Harbor Pump Replacement Project
Operations & Maintenance Manager Don Vogt is recommending acceptance of the Ice
Harbor Pump Replacement Project, as completed by MZ Construction, Inc., in the final
contract amount of $174,550.00.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT:Ice Harbor Pump Replacement Project
INTRODUCTION
The attached resolutions provide for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
Ice Harbor Pump Replacement Project. The contract provided for structural
modifications to the pump house building, discharge piping, electrical power supply and
controls, and the removal and replacement of two 25HP, 3100 gallon per minute pumps
with two 75HP, 8000 gallon per minute pumps.
DISCUSSION
Work has been completed on the project by MZ Construction, Inc. in the final contract
amount of $174,550.00. I recommend that the City Council accept the improvement
and the final contract price be established at $174,550.00.
BUDGET IMPACT
A summary of the project is as follows:

This project was funded with monies budgeted specifically for it in our department's
FY2002 ($75,910.00) and FY2003 ($57,904.00) capital improvement budgets.
Additional monies needed to complete this project ($57,386.00) came from our
department's FY2003 FloodwalI-Post Flood Repair capital improvement project budget
($10,000.00) and our FY2003 Wall, Railing and Wall-Top Fencing capital improvement
proliect budget ($47,386.00).
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolutions accepting the
improvement and establishing the final construction cost.
RESOLUTION NO. 160-03
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
Whereas, the contract for the Operations and Maintenance Department Ice
Harbor Pump Replacement Project has been completed and the City Manager has
examined the work and filed his certificate stating that the same has been completed
according to the terms of the contract, plans and specifications and recommends it
acceptance.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1..That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that
said improvement be and the same is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Director be and he is hereby
directed to pay to the contractor from the General Fund equal to the amount of this
contract, less any retained percentage provided for therein.

RESOLUTION NO. 161-03
FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the contract for the Operations and Maintenance Department Ice
Harbor Pump Replacement Project has been completed and the Operations and
Maintenance Department Manager has submitted his final estimate showing the cost
thereof including the cost of estimates, notices and inspection and all miscellaneous
costs;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be
$174,550.00 and the said amount shall be paid from the General Fund of the City of
Dubuque, Iowa.
