Dear Senator Connolly,
Senator Charles Grassley recently introduced federal legislation which includes $20
billion to provide assistance to states during these troubling financial times.
I understand that there is a proposal being considered for the special session of the
Iowa State Legislature that would use $60 million of the $130 million that would come to
the State of Iowa to avoid cutting revenues to local governments.
Please support this effort. This would avoid $1.2 million in cuts the City of Dubuque
must make to adjust the Fiscal Year 2004 budget to the cuts from the State of Iowa.
