WHEREAS, Bruce Aune has spent the past 34 years earning the trust and loyalty of
eastern lowa television viewers as the evening news anchor at KCRG-
TV9 in Cedar Rapids; and
WHEREAS, Bruce has delivered breaking news, good news and heart-wrenching news
with the compassion and professionalism of the highest journalistic
standards; and
WHEREAS, Bruce's unwavering commitment to his craft has helped shape countless
journalists who have worked with Bruce in the newsroom; and
WHEREAS, he has traveled the world witnessing the mightiest to the weakest of
humanity, while always demonstrating the ability to tell the story with
accuracy, fairness, and empathy; and
WHEREAS, the lowa Broadcast News Association honored Bruce Aune with its
highest individual award, the prestigious Jack Shelley Award.
WHEREAS, Bruce Aune has been a true treasure to eastern lowans who have
graciously welcomed him into their living rooms to deliver the news.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 2ND DAY OF MARCH 2O20 AS:
"BRUCE AUNE DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO TAKE PART IN
RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS THAT BRUCE AUNE
HAS MADE TO OUR COMMUNITY AND WISH HIM THE BEST ON HIS
RETIREMENT.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
