Regarding the Permanent Termination of Employees of:
Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear Mayor Buol:
Please be advised that on February 7, 2020, Sisters of Charity, BVM notified affected
employees that the management of Sisters of Charity, BVM decided to permanently reduce
its workforce at 1100 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, IA 52003 effective as of April 11, 2020.
Such reduction in workforce shall effectuate a joint venture between Sisters of Charity,
BVM and Presbyterian Homes & Services, Inc., and the subsequent creation of BVM-PHS
Senior Housing, Inc. Effective April 12, 2020, employees affected by the above -mentioned
termination from employment with Sisters of Charity, BVM will be employed by BVM-
PHS Senior Housing, Inc.
As a result of this action, 203 employee positions will be permanently eliminated from
Sisters of Charity, BVM. The job titles of positions to be affected, and the number of
affected employees in each job classification are provided on Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Affected employees do not have any bumping rights. None of the affected employees are
represented by a union.
