Dubuque IA 52001 Re: Damage to U.S. Postai Service Property USPS Case#: 500-20-00460524A Date of Incident: 12-11-2019 Certified Mail#: 7017 2620 0000 4628 3956 Dear Mr. Kramer: This letter is to advise you that this office is making a claim in the amount of$955.86, for damages sustained in a property damage incident that occurred on 12-11-2019, in or around Dubuque, la. Our investigation reveals that the City of Dubuque is liable in this matter, in that: City workers were removing a tree near a Community Box Unit(CBU) located at 2518 Hacienda Dr. A large limb was cut from the tree and it caused damage to the top of the CBU. The damage is not repairable and the CBU will be replaced. Therefore,we are making a claim against you for reimbursement of the costs of the damages sustained by the Postal property in this incident. I enclose a copy of the"Cost of Repair to Postal Service-Owned Property"for the damages sustained by us. This statement is made a part of this claim for all purposes. In the event that you do not have liability insurance, then you should contact us immediately. If I do not hear from you within thirty(30)days from the mailing of this letter, this office will have no other alternative but to hand this matter over to our collections department to engage in further collection efforts against you including filing suit against you. In addition, the Court may order you to pay an additional amount to us to cover all court costs and attorney's fees incurred in the prosecution of this claim. These extra amounts can become quite substantial. Therefore, it may be economically ta your benefit to make ar�angements to pay this cVaim now.
