Present: Mayor Buol; Council Members Cavanagh, Jones, Resnick, Roussel!, Shaw, Sprank; City Manager Van Milligen Mayor Buol read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council called for the purpose of reviewing certain Fiscal Year 2021 Departmental Budgets. PUBLIC HEARINGS FISCAL YEAR 2021 DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET REVIEW Fiscal Year 2021 City departmental budgets were presented by staff from the following departments: 1. Purchase of Services FY21 Budget Presentation: Alexis Steger, Housing and Community Development Director. 2. Leisure Services Department • Five Flags Civic Center FY21 Budget Presentation: Marie Ware, Leisure Services Manager; • Grand River Center (Conference Center) FY21 Budget Presentation: Marie Ware Leisure Services Manager; • Park Division FY21 Budget Presentation: Steve Fehsal, Park Division Manager; • Multicultural Family Center FY21 Budget Presentation: Jacqueline Hunter, MFC Director; • Americorps FY21 Budget Presentation: Heather Slatterly, Americorps Program Director; • Recreation Division FY21 Budget Presentation; Dan Kroger, Recreation Division Manager. The presenters responded to questions from the City Council following their respective presentations. Following the Park Division presentation, Ms. Ware responded to questions regarding the future of Miller -Riverview Campground due to the ongoing river flooding causing closings of the campground. She stated that the topic is a Council policy decision and suggested that it become part of the next Council goal setting session. Following the MFC presentation, Council Member Brett Shaw offered to volunteer backpacking equipment if the MFC developed a backpacking program. Following the Five Flags Civic Center presentation, Clement Plein, 870 Kaufmann Avenue, addressed the City Council about his belief that the Center should be sold for development and expressed his concerns with the increase in property taxes related to the renovation.
