On behalf of the City of Dubuque, I am writing to lend my support to the Four Mounds Energy
Office Pilot Program. I would strongly encourage you to recognize this project for its leadership
in energy efficiency and ability to fill a vital gap in creating sustainable, green jobs in Iowa.
Since 2006, the City Council has identified sustainability as one of its top priorities. Recently,
the Power Fund Board committed to being a key partner in Dubuque's Smarter City initiative
with IBM. I would like to once again thank you for your support of that model for all communities
in Iowa, and encourage you to support Four Mounds' proposal as one piece of the energy
efficiency puzzle in Dubuque.
Through the proposed Energy Office, Four Mounds will assist in the larger sustainability vision
for Dubuque that is one of a viable, livable, and equitable community that embraces economic
prosperity, environmental integrity, and social /cultural vibrancy. This program will result in
energy savings, job creation and sustainment, and increased community knowledge.
The City understands the value of strong partnerships in leveraging state and federal funds and
for this reason, is committed to supporting the 100 pilot energy audits and their recommended
retrofits through the use of our Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant funds.
