SUGGESTED DISPOSITION: ATTACHMENTS: Description Public Health Nurses Recognition Day Type Supporting Documentation rim Cl FY OF Dui P Masterpiece on the Mississippi 00 ,AMA I ION WHEREAS, International Nurses Day celebrates the tireless efforts of nurses in maintaining public health around the world and was celebrated on May 12th and honors nurses around the world; and WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, the United States celebrates National Nursing Week each year from May 6th to May 12th; and the International Council of Nurses leads the celebrations on International Nurses Day it has a special significance because 2020 is the first ever International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of modern nursing's founders, Florence Nightingale; and this year's International Nurses Day them is "Nurses: A Voice to Lead — Nursing the World to Health," could not be more appropriate and demonstrates how nurses are central to addressing a wide range of health challenges, including the current COVID-19 pandemic; and we should all focus on the unique role of nurses and give thanks for their selfless contribution, especially now in the struggle to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 18th DAY OF MAY 2020 AS "PUBLIC HEALTH NURSES RECOGNITION DAY" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA IN RECOGNITION OF THE AMAZING DUBUQUE COMMUNITY AND TRI-STATE NURSES IN ALL ASPECTS OF HEALTHCARE AND AT ALL STAGES OF LIFE.
