The PSA features representatives of the City's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, the Arts & Culture Advisory Commission and arts and culture organizations. Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Jenni Petersen -Brant, Arts & Cultural Affairs Coordinator SUBJECT: Transmission of PSA Message from City's Arts and Culture Partners DATE: May 13, 2020 INTRODUCTION This memorandum serves to alert the City Manager to a PSA produced through collaborative efforts of members of Dubuque's arts and cultural community and request that the message be transmitted to City Council. The PSA features representatives of the City's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, the Arts & Culture Advisory Commission, and 15 local 501c3 arts and culture organizations, all funded through the City's Arts and Culture Grant Programs. BACKGROUND Local arts and culture organizations began closing their doors to the public on March, 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The PSA serves as a collective message to the community about their ongoing work to connect, inspire, and uplift while venues remain closed and operations are disrupted due to COVID-19. The message will be shared online by those appearing in the video and throughout the community by others engaged in. ACTION REQUESTED Transmission of PSA to City Council and community during May 18, 2020 City Council meeting. The PSA can be accessed on YouTube at https://bit.Iy/2yU9IEX.
