CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
MINUTES

Present: Chairperson Dan White, Commissioner Betty Takes
Absent: Commissioner Jim Schilling
Also Present: Pat DeHeck, Randy Peck, Dave Baker, Don Vogt, John Klostermann,
Randy Ludowitz, Ron Gulyash
Chairperson White called the meeting to order at 1:07 p.m.
Hearing on appeal of Patrick DeHeck
Upon concurrence, the witnesses were sworn in.
Commission heard testimony regarding the appeal of Patrick Deheck
Appearing for the City of Dubuque: Personnel Manager Randy Peck
Appearing for Mr. DeHeck: Teamsters Local 120 Eastern Iowa Director Dave Baker
appeared for Patrick DeHeck
Opening statements were waived
Witnesses for the City of Dubuque:
Don Vogt, Operations and Maintenance Manager
Exhibits: #1 -#4 were submitted
Witnesses for Mr. DeHeck:
Patrick DeHeck
Exhibits: #1 -7 (a, b, c) were submitted
Summations were given by Peck and Baker
Motion: Takes moved to remove the one -day suspension and make Mr. DeHeck whole.
Seconded by White. Motion carried 2 -0.
Request to Schedule Entrance Examination for the Position of Truck Driver
The commission agreed on Tuesday, April 27, at the Five Flags Center Ballroom. Check
in at 5:30 p.m. with testing at 6:00 p.m.
(Application deadline of April 16 at 5:00 p.m.)
There being no further business, upon motion the Commission adjourned at 1:52 p.m.
