Thank you for sending your e-mail message to share your
support for the state aid provisions included in the Jobs and Growth Tax Act (H.R. 2).

As you know, after Congress approved the Jobs and Growth
Tax Act (H.R. 2) on May 23, 2003, it was signed into law by the President on May 29, 2003.
H.R. 2 will create jobs and generate economic growth by providing important tax relief to
individuals and Iowa's small businesses. It is estimated the legislation will provide
immediate help for more than 900,000 Iowa families who filed tax returns. Most
importantly this legislation will create thousands of jobs in Iowa. Specifically for
Iowa's communities, this legislation provides $20 billion to aid states in both their
Medicaid funding as well as other flexible spending. This important funding came at a
critical time for Iowa as the state legislature addressed the budget in special session.
Mike, I supported this legislation and believe this funding will help Iowa's communities
address some of their most critical needs.
