Berger, EMA Coordinator City of Dubuque Hazard Mitigation Plan Update A request has been made by East Central Intergovernmental Association to schedule a public meeting for April 19 for the updated Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan has been prepared by ECIA and a local committee over the past year. The local committee consisted of Council Members Joyce Connors and Ric Jones; Asst. City Manager Cindy Steinhauser, Fire Chief Dan Brown, Operations and Maintenance Manager Don Vogt, Police Chief Mark Dalsing, Police Captain Scott Crabill, Public Information Officer Randy Gehl, Associate Planner Kyle Kritz, City Engineer Gus Psihoyos and also from engineering, Deron Muehring; Airport Manager Bob Grierson and Airport Operations, Todd Dalsing, Jonathan Brown from Water Pollution Control Plant, Nikki Breitsprecker from GIS CMO, Bob Green and Jacqueline Rodriguez from the water department and myself. 14928 Public Safety Way Dubuque, IA 52002 -8216 Phone: 563 - 589 -4170 Fax: 563 - 589 -0015 E -Mail: dbgemaCOyousq.net The 2010 Hazard Mitigation Plan is an update of the original Hazard Mitigation Plan that was approved by the City of Dubuque in 2004. The changes to the plan were mandated by a five -year expiration window on the 2004 plan. This plan will be submitted in draft form in April and then revised by ECIA if revisions are suggested by FEMA. This plan is considered Part B of our Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and qualifies the City of Dubuque for Federal and State Assistance in a disaster. After the public meeting the approved plan will be submitted to the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division for their approval and then forwarded on to FEMA. RESOLUTION NO. 105 -10 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE DUBUQUE HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE WHEREAS, the Dubuque Hazard Mitigation Plan Update was presented to the Dubuque City Council on April 19, 2010; and WHEREAS, the Dubuque Hazard Mitigation Plan Update was prepared in compliance with the Hazard Mitigation Planning Requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 provided by the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division; and WHEREAS, the Dubuque Hazard Mitigation Plan Update identifies the City's potential hazards in the community; and WHEREAS, the Dubuque Hazard Mitigation Plan Update includes a profile of hazard events, a vulnerability assessment, evaluation of mitigation goals and a plan maintenance process. • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dubuque does hereby approve and adopt the Dubuque Hazard Mitigation Plan Update this 19th day of April, 2010.
