Meeting was called to order at 4:24 P.M. by Chairman Tom Giese, and announced that it
was being conducted in accordance with Iowa Open Meetings Law.
Order of business was as follows:
1. Dave Stewart made motion to suspense with reading of minutes, seconded by
Harlan Willenborg. Motion passed.
Discussion was held upon request by Dave Cleek by Molo to look at his Experior
competency license and make a ruling. The Board moved to table the item until we
receive further information from Expedor.
Harlan Willenborg questioned Mr. Cleek as to who held the mechanical contractors
license at Molo. The secretary called the Permit Clerk who explained that any
officer of the company could apply for the license.
=
Discussion was held on the power wiring of residential equipment. As it stands,
the HVAC people are wiring the units. After reviewing the Experior explanation
of the B1 test, a motion was made by Dave Stewart that the B1 competency was
adequate for the wiring of residential equipment without obtaining an electrical
license. Tom Giese seconded. Motion passed.
The Board discussed permits and competency cards. The board's consensus
was that the city should make every tool available for the inspectors to catch
people working without permits or licenses.
=
Discussion was also held on the Wildflower duplex. Tim Casey and Jason Mootz
performed a mechanical installation for a Jim Parker. They did so without permit
or competency. The Board was informed that Jim Parker was being served with
a Municipal Citation for allowing HVAC equipment to be installed without proper
permits. Tim Casey and Jason Mootz are to be called to the next meeting of the
Mechanical Board to explain to the Board what happened and why.
The Board approved an application by Home Heating Co. for Certificate of
Registration. They were assigned No. 164. The Board also signed Certificate of
Competencies for Daniel Pedek (MC 647) for L2 and Mike Ferrari (MC610) for
B1 and L3.
7. The next Mechanical Board meeting will be held on June 25 at 4:00 P.M. in
Conference Rm. A, City Hall.
