I sent this to Tom Barton of the TH 10/2/2019 in response to when Dubuque had its last all-male Council. I'll try to get a
female count to you before your Thursday meeting.

The most recent all-male Council was a short window from May 1988 to September 1990. Katherine Krieg had resigned
and James Heckman was appointed. He then resigned in September 1990, and Katherine Krieg came back on in October
1990.
We have to go back to 1977 to find an all-male Council again.
FYI – 2006 and 2007 saw 4 females on the Council: Ann Michalski, Joyce Connors, Karla Braig and Patricia Cline.

Last week, a TH reporter emailed me saying she is doing a report on women in politics and will be interviewing me and
also Abby Finkenaur.
She is going to call me on Thursday at 1:00. I wondered if you could tell me how many female city council members
there have been. I know that Sr Carolyn was the first. Don’t know how many we’ve had since then, including Carolyn.
I think it would be an interesting statistic to share. If not too difficult, could you get that number for me before my
interview on Thursday at 1:00?
