SASHA WILLIAMS
Sasha from Asbury street my first question is, How are you guys taking extra precaution to assure COVID ,
resources and assets for people who are experiencing this pandemic in black and brown communities and
if you have what communities are those ?
2000 University Avenue
•I would also like to make some suggestions since • The COVID rates in the black and brown communities
are triple of their population proportion. Many of these individuals work in essential jobs such a meat
processing transit driving and direct care. Which causes them not to social distance appropriately. Mix that
with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and asthma, you have a melting pot
of the most severe cases. What are some preventive measures the city is taking to make sure these
residents are not being exposed and they do not hold the financial burden of this crisis?
o Is it possible to provide face masks and hand sanitizer to communities that are affected per household
or per person?
o Transportation to the testing center? Have a testing center that is closer to the low-income communities
that are affected.
o Free childcare for residents who have to work in essential jobs?
o Individuals with pre-existing health conditions need access to quality health care and should abstain
from being in public.
I would like to ask my next question to make sure i get all my questions in. What are your responses to the
black lives matter movement? Have you attended a protest?
• I see that on the City of Dubuque webpage, you have all these facts and statistics about FY2021. Can you
say that the information that is presented it presented in a way that every individual could read and
understand it? Where else is this information posted? Internet access is scarce for many low-income
families.
I still would like to know what are your thoughts towards the black lives movement and if any of you have
attended any of the protest ?
