Proclamation_Nursing Home Week 2010
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the citizens of Dubuque now residing in nursing homes have
contributed immeasurably to the heritage, success and growth of our
community; and
WHEREAS, nursing home residents of any age or ability are themselves living
history and a precious resource; and
WHEREAS, member nursing homes of the American Health Care Association and
the Iowa Home and Services for the Aging are holding events in
observance of Nursing Home Week guided by this year’s national
theme of “Enriching Every Day.”
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF MAY 9-15, 2010 AS
“NURSING HOME WEEK”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND URGE EVERY CITIZEN TO HONOR THE
ELDERLY AND DISABLED RESIDENTS OF NURSING HOMES BY VISITING OR
VOLUNTEERING AT A LOCAL NURSING HOME TO BRING CHEER TO THE RESIDENTS
AND APPRECIATION TO THE STAFF WHO CARE FOR OUR MOST VULNERABLE
CITIZENS ON OUR BEHALF.
