Proclamation_Compass to Care Day 2010
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS approximately 12,500 children in the United States are diagnosed with
cancer each year; and
WHEREAS, many of these children and their families are required to travel to hospitals
and medical centers that provide pediatric oncology services; and
WHEREAS, Compass to Care, The Mike & Sandy Ernsdorff Childhood Cancer
Foundation is the only organization dedicated to scheduling and paying for
the travel arrangements these families require to seek cancer care for their
children; and
WHEREAS, Compass to Care envisions a world where every child diagnosed with
cancer is cured and aims to help make this vision a reality by providing a
compass for each child to get the best and most appropriate cancer care.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM JULY 9, 2010 AS
“COMPASS TO CARE, THE MIKE & SANDY ERNSDORFF
CHILDHOOD CANCER FOUNDATION DAY”
IN DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ASK THE CITIZENS TO RECOGNIZE ALL OF THE
CHALLENGES ENDURED BY CHILDREN WITH CANCER AND THEIR FAMILIES AND TO
JOIN THIS WORTHWHILE CAUSE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES.
