MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP ADVISORY COMMISSION
APRIL 6, 2010
5:00 P.M.
CITY HALL ANNEX, 1300 MAIN, CONFERENCE ROOM # 1
Wayne Klostermann called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Wayne Klostermann, Joe Suarez, Gayle Walter, Ed Cawley
and Chad Oberdoerster
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Mike Buelow. One seat remains vacant
STAFF PRESENT:
Mary Rose Corrigan, Jon Brown, Don Vogt
Mary Rose Corrigan completed the Certification of Compliance with the Iowa Open
Meetings Law.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Joe Suarez moved to accept the Minutes of the March 2, 2010 meeting. Chad
Oberdoerster seconded the motion. Minutes were approved by a 5 – 0 by roll call vote.

No changes were made to the agenda.
ITEMS FROM COMMISSION:
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Dubuque 2.0.
Justin Thiltgen gave a presentation on Dubuque 2.0. Commissioners then questioned if
the community’s sustainability plan is going to be developed and my whom. Justin
explained that is not really part of Dubuque 2.0’s role. The Commission discussed that
they could ask Cori Burbach about how this sustainability plan and the ESAC can help
engage citizens in the planning and implementation, possibly through Dubuque 2.0? or
through Cori Burbach/ESAC? Cori Burbach can address these questions at the May
meeting of how the ESAC will be involved in sustainability/Dubuque 2.0.
ITEMS FROM STAFF:
OLD BUSINESS.
1. Urban Deer Management Program.
Mary Rose presented the results and stated that the only change she’s proposing to
make to the Urban Deer Management Plan was to allow coyotes to be hunted year-
round. This would not apply to park areas. Joe Suarez moved to approve the Deer
Management Plan with the exception of coyotes being allowed to be hunted year-round,
except for in parks. Chad Oberdoerster seconded the motion. Motion passed by a 5-0
roll call vote.
Jon Brown updated the ESAC on the Water Pollution Control Plant project. The City
Council approved the plan going out for bid. The goal is to have construction awarded
by June 7, 2010.

No one present to address the Commission.
CLARIFICATION OF TASKS:
Mary Rose Corrigan will forward the Urban Deer Management Plan for City Council
approval.

Sustainability.

Chad Oberdoerster moved to adjourn the meeting. Joe Suarez seconded the motion.
Motion was approved by a 5-0 roll call vote at 5:55 p.m.
