Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, the Montrose
Terrace Stairs Reconstruction Project was awarded on April 23, 2010, to Max Smith
Construction, in the amount of $43,871.00, which was 25.7% over the engineer's
estimate.
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends that the award for the Montrose Terrace
Stairs Reconstruction Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

This project involved the reconstruction of the Montrose Terrace Stairs between Montrose
Terrace and Loras Blvd. The existing stairs are in very poor shape and have been closed for a
couple of years. The reconstructed stairs will include new stairs including new handrails and
landings. The abutting roof drains will also be tied into a trench drain that will pass the
stormwater through the curb on Loras Blvd.
