DISSCUSSION: Transit Service has an older paratransit fleet. It is proposing to purchase minibuses using the lowa Department of Transportation's pre-negotiated state contract. Upon review of the vehicles on this list, the Jule recommends purchasing from Hoglund Bus Co., Inc. Hoglund is located in Marshalltown, IA. BUDGET IMPACT: Transit has a budgeted amount of$368,302.00 for Minibus Replacement under capital improvement project activity code 6001222-73411. These funds are set aside funds with no grant funding attached to this purchase. Hoglund has quoted $95,202 per bus for a total of$285,606. This will leave $82,695 in this activity code that can be applied to the purchase of an additional paratransit shuttle once more funds becoming available. REQUESTED ACTION: I ask Council approval to proceed with purchasing three (3) paratransit minibuses to continue with the revitalization of the Jule's fleet.
