INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to request approval to apply for the a grant
program through the Kwik Trip Corporation grant program to provide smoke detectors.
DISCUSSION
Last year the lowa Fire Marshal's Office drastically reduced the availability of
smoke detectors for our free smoke detector install program. Reductions in a similar
program from the American Red Cross have followed, resulting in a limited supply of
smoke detectors to continue this important life safety program. Due to fire department
operating budget restrictions this year, we are also extremely limited in our ability to
purchase detectors for the program.
The Kwik Trip Kares grant would provide up to $5000 with no matching
requirement. We expect to apply for this amount, that if awarded, would allow us to
purchase $5000 worth of detectors to assure adequate supplies for free installation to
needy Dubuque residences.
Grant Objective: Provide funds to purchase smoke detectors for giveaway program.
Anticipated Amount: $5000.00
Match Required: NO
Match Percentage: N/A
Application Due Date: August 30, 2020
