Subject: Update from the Flexsteel reclaimed wood project.
Hi Mike,
Checking in with you, Hope you’re doing well. I miss our meetups. Let me know what’s new and when we could
possibly reconnect.
I finally came up for air on the Flexsteel wood project. It has been a journey, thankfully one that kept me busy all spring
and summer. I now have nearly two thirds of it sold. It has been a blast to create products for local folks that had a
connection to the building. I also took a risk and processed 10,000 square feet of wood flooring. I decided to put it in
my house which came out beautifully. I still have a whole bunch available and I need help spreading the word.
A few notable accomplishments: (tooting the horn)
- Kept over 2,000,000. pounds out of the landfill
- Provided timbers to local projects, river museum, Galena Golf Club, Local builders
- Employed over 20 people during part time with plenty of distancing during the pandemic.
- Developed products such as flooring, cladding, and lumber blanks to be sold regionally
_ Not sure what else to say, but I know I’m missing lots of chance encounters with people that worked at the facility all
their lives, many of them wanted a brick or a small piece of lumber as a memento. Most of them just wanted to share
their story and I let them. It has been neat to hear from so many great folks.
I wanted to share some of these pictures with you, a friend of mine helped me put together a bit of marketing materials.
